History of Bullard

Bullard is the perfect picture of small town Texas lifestyle.  The City of Bullard is located on highway 69 halfway between Tyler, Texas and Jacksonville, Texas.

The City of Bullard has experienced tremendous growth over the past 20 years.  The population doubled between the 2000 and 2010 censuses.  The population almost doubled again between the 2010 and 2020 censuses.  

The current population of Bullard is just under 5000 residents.

Bullard was founded as a small farming community centered around a railway station at what is now the 4-way intersection in the center of town.

Today Bullard is home to one of the finest school districts in East Texas, the Bullard Independent School District.  The school district has fueled the City’s growth as parents seek a small town quality of life in East Texas in which they can raise their children.

The City of Bullard is uniquely situated on the county line between Smith County and Cherokee County.

There are two major North-South thoroughfares connecting Bullard to the larger cities of Tyler and Jacksonville.  The first is Highway 69 which runs from Tyler to Houston.  The second is FM 2493 which runs north from Bullard into Tyler, Texas.

The major East-West thoroughfare is FM 344 which connects Bullard to the communities of Whitehouse and Flint, Texas.
